Are you feeling stressed, tired, wound up or worn out? Depressed, anxious or unhappy? Do you have pain or health issues?

The rapid pace of modern life and the constant daily demands of a fast-paced world often lead us to burn out. We live in a day and age where life seems to be a rollercoaster. We often find ourselves rushing through our days with little time to enjoy it or the people in it.

In fact, Stress is one of the leading causes of all disease. It is currently estimated that 75 per cent of visits to doctors are due to stress related ailments. In fact, stress is a leading factor in causing:

    Heart disease Cancer

    Stroke Infertility

High Blood pressure, Diabetes Insomnia or Sleep problems

    Weight gain, lower immunity etc.

The good news is that you/we can do something about it. Maanaw Seva Association has organized a talk – Matter of Stress. 3. Swarga Rohan - Planning for the Life's journey
  4. Sunday - April 28, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Maanaw Seva is organizing a one day symposium. This symposium will cover the topics surrounding medical and legal issues that happen around the end of life, and how we can prepare ourselves for it.

What does that mean? Before a terminal event causes death, all of us are more likely to suffer a life threatening medical event that lands us in hospital. With modern medical technology, physicians can keep us “alive” for a long time (with ventilators, etc.) even if we are totally incapacitated/ unconscious. These events can cause a lot of mental, physical and financial hardships to our near and dear relatives. Also, at these moments, the healthcare providers, in the absence of Living Directives, look to the next of kin/surrogates for direction, as to the patients wishes on what they would have liked done for the patient. So, in addition to the stress of a close relative being seriously unwell, the next of kin is then burdened with making life altering decisions on your life. Also, matters may get worse if there is disagreement between siblings as to the way they move forward.

The purpose of this presentation is to prepare you for this reality, plan and help your spouse/partner and children cope in a planned and safe manner for this unenviable eventuality.

  5. Annual Walk For Children’s Future
  6. June 15, 2019, at Site #5, of Hawrelak Park, EDMONTON

Self-respect, self-confidence and economic progress are most important for every individual. These could be achieved through Education. There are many under-privileged and poor children without the opportunity or means to acquire an education.

One of the main objectives of Maanaw Seva is to help poor children receive elementary education. For this purpose our association holds an annual Walk-a-thon - Walk for Children’s Future - to raise funds to support local and international children. With the funds raised MSA has been operating a free school in India, in the village of Atsaliya in Uttar Pradesh.

But the Walk not only raises funds, but by participating we get exercise, meet people from different communities, have a free food, and enjoy mingling in a picnic-style atmosphere. There is no entrance fee, or any charges for participating in the various activities.

We invite you, your family and friends to join our Walk for Children’s Future. The comfortable walk starts at 10:30 AM and is followed by entertainment and games for children and adults, a light lunch - and free draws for gifts. Come and enjoy!

For more information and inspiration see Bob Chelmick's brief, enthusiastic talk about the Walk and the children in India it supports.
